Mark Crouchen

Managing Director

​

Mark is a recognised expert in composites with over 30 years’ experience in the industry, providing composites solutions into a wide range of industries including aerospace, defence, medical and nuclear.  He is an exceptional engineer whose early career with multinational organisations specialised in flight control and launch systems.  He is an entrepreneur with the rare combination of skills that enables him to build companies which can supply innovative but practical and cost-effective solutions to complex engineering problems and, having previously founded 2 successful companies (Carbon Design and C2 Composites), he established Rockwood Composites in 2010.

Silvan Roberts

Operations Manager

​

Silvan has always worked in customer-facing roles.  She started out in front-line sales, rising to team leader and account manager, working in a wide variety of industries.  Her responsibilities developed over time into wider customer service roles.  In 1999 she joined C2, initially in a sales role, but this grew into the full range of office duties including purchasing, accounts and administration.  Although not a technician, she has developed an in-depth knowledge of the composites industry.  In Rockwood, she is responsible for the full administration function including customer account management, purchasing and scheduling.

Jon Law

Production Manager

​

Jon has spent his whole career working within high-tech engineering starting as an engineering technician in military electronics before moving into the semiconductor market, where he gained valuable experience in TPM, lean and continuous improvement techniques. Progressing into engineering management then production management, he has spent over 20 years directly leading production teams within automotive, medical, marine and aerospace markets working for companies such as Motorola, British Aerospace and Princess Yachts. Joining Rockwood in 2019, he heads up the production team liaising, with the operations and design teams.

Derryck Morton

Research and Development Manager

Derryck considers himself fortunate to have done his HNC level mechanical engineering apprenticeship with the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, which is widely considered to have been one of the best available.  Thereafter he worked as a machinist, programmer and designer with a precision engineering company which specialised in components for the Formula 1 and space exploration industries.  He joined C2 as Engineering Manager in 2000 and then filled the same role within Rockwood.  He specialises in CNC programming and machining and, with over 40 years’ experience, has unrivalled expertise in problem solving, product design and production support which has led him into Rockwood's Research and Development Manager role.

Brian Ivey

Quality Engineer

​

Brian has over 25 years’ experience in various manufacturing industries. Starting in the electronics industry, his eye for detail and fastidious nature led him into quality, from AQL operator to chief inspector then quality engineer. From electronics he moved to precision engineering working in the automotive, aerospace, medical and hydraulic industries. He is also adept with all forms of metrology equipment, including programming and operating CMM’s. His breadth of experience across many quality systems gives him a wide knowledge which has proved invaluable to Rockwood since joining the team in 2019.

Steve Pearce

Machine Shop Manager

​

Steve completed his apprenticeship in mechanical engineering back in 1990, and has been involved in precision engineering all his working life. He has been lucky enough to manufacture parts for Cryogenics, Motorsport, Aerospace and the Ministry of Defence. Steve is a very hands-on person and has a “can do” attitude and has a wide knowledge of a variety CNC programming software. He joined Rockwood in 2020 as a CNC machinist, and his desire to give the company more has led him to be promoted to Machine Shop Manager.

Kathryn Crouchen

Project Manager

​

Kathryn graduated from the University of the West of England with a First-Class Honours in Forensic Science. During her time there, she worked part-time with Rockwood as a laminating technician and also assisted with new product development. She joined Rockwood full-time in 2018 as Production Lead, in which role she used her skills gained to support the engineering team. Now being a competent SolidWorks CAD and PDM user as well as PC-DMIS laser scanning software, she has moved up to Project Manager and is involved across all company projects in the development of component parts, mould tool design and the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, document control and Pointcloud scanning.
